How to Order

A knitted baby poncho goes on and off easier than a jacket. It is warm, but not too much so, and does not restrict baby’s movement. The hood will not fall off and get lost!

Details of Knitted Baby Poncho

I typically knit this in a sturdy acrylic yarn that washes and dries well, since baby items often need frequent laundering. It will take a lot of wear and still look like new.

I prefer not to add fringe to baby items, since they like to chew on it. The trim is a simple crochet edging that adds a bit of weight to the bottom and helps it hang nicely.

Uses for Knitted Baby Poncho

This knitted poncho consists of four panels, with an attached hood. The design allows for several variations. I can leave the hood off. It would also be possible to leave the front seam open and create a button band to close it.

The pictured poncho has two colors, but it could easily be done in a single color (variegated yarn is nice) or in multiple colors. I’ve often made this poncho in three colors, but it would be possible to use up to six.
