How to Order

This lace baby bonnet has a delicately scalloped edge and gathers at the back. I like using different lace patterns, so your bonnet may vary from those in the photo. Please let me know if you have a favorite lace pattern.

Details of Lace Baby Bonnet

I make this lace bonnet in acrylic so that it can be washed as often as needed without looking worn. It is a soft yarn that will be non-irritating to baby’s skin.

Many baby bonnets are made with ribbon ties. This is pretty, but I don’t find it very practical. Ribbon can be scratchy against the tender skin of the throat. It is also slippery and can come untied.

I make my ties out of the same yarn as the bonnet itself. They are soft, and will not come untied easily. They are knitted directly onto the bonnet, so baby cannot rip them off.

Uses for Lace Baby Bonnet

A lace baby bonnet can be used indoors or out, almost year-round. It adds some warmth and helps prevent baby’s body heat from escaping. It will not be overly warm, however. I recommend a warmer hat for outdoors in cold weather.

Baby bonnets are a beautiful tradition for dressing up a baby. They are classic accompaniments for baptisms, christenings, and other special events.
