Handmade Knit Clothing and Gifts

Primarily Practical Knits offers a variety of handmade knit clothing and gifts, with an emphasis on easy-care items that will fit your family’s busy lifestyle. You can choose from classic knit clothing such as mittens and hats, or from more decorative items such as puppets and personalized Christmas stockings.

Handmade Knit Clothing

The Handmade Knits page offers a general introduction that applies to all my products. There are several category pages to help you find specific items. The Baby Knits and Winter Knits pages include "regular" items, that are either in stock or can be knitted with little preparation. Examples of custom items that fit into the category are also included.

Some of my favorites to knit are berets (in wool or acrylic). They can go alone, or with matching mittens and scarves. Baby items are always fun as well. I hope to add a new baby blanket design soon. Handmade knit clothing can be made with thicker yarn for more warmth and coziness, or with thinner yarns for milder seasons.

Handmade Knit Gifts

Knit items are always thoughtful gifts. For many, you won't need to know a recipient's exact size. In addition to clothing, the Household Items and Knitted Christmas Stockings pages have some great ideas for handmade knit gifts. Choose something that is easy care, and your gift will be used again and again. I also offer gift certificates in any denomination.

My knitted washcloths are especially nice gifts. They're soft, absorbent, and will last forever. Give one or two for small gifts (teachers, party favors) or several in a rainbow of colors for a housewarming.

Other Handmade Knit Clothing and Gifts

Custom orders allow you the opportunity to choose individual variations on any of the items I regularly make. I will occasionally take custom orders for different items. I am happy to knit clothing and gifts in different sizes, colors, or fibers. Details on placing a custom order can be found at Custom Knits.

Special Knits is a showcase for new items that may or may not become "regular". Usually they are things that I knit for fun, but if enough people like the style, I may consider knitting more. There is also a section with knits that are currently offered at discount prices.
